Protesters drowned out House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy with chants of “Where’s your heart?” and “If they don’t let us dream, we won’t let them sleep.”
McCarthy said that “history is against” Republican efforts to retain control of the House.
He was at a Public Policy Institute of California event and noted that the party in power has almost always surrendered seats during the midterm elections and said that Republicans need to get over an enthusiasm gap which is greater on the Democratic side than on the Republican side.
