Minneapolis City Council President Andrea Jenkins will be our keynote speaker at noon on Thursday, July 7 at our convention hotel. Councilmember Andrea Jenkins is the first Black transgender woman to win elected office in the U.S. and was recently inducted into the LGBTQ Victory Hall of Fame, joining Harvey Milk, Barney Frank, and others. Councilmember Jenkins is a writer and poet in addition to being a political leader. The very lives of Black transgender people are at risk–they are on the front lines in the struggle for respect, safety, and equality. Now is a great moment for us to learn from this great woman.
